Picture7The Health and well being of the residents of the Yurong Peru community in Region 9 was enhanced when a water supply system was commissioned on March 1, 2018 that would directly benefit 340 residents. Picture8

Nine (9) households will not benefit directly from the water supply system but their water quality will also be improved through provision of a device from GWI for water treatment at home. During a joint visit to the Region the impact of the project was visible. The Toshao and several community leaders noted that the community never had a continuous water supply with a quality suitable for human consumption.

The project which provided the water supply system was a result of collaboration between the Ministry of Communities, the Guyana Water Incorporated Inc . (GWI), the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) with the support of a Canadian Project, and the Regional and Local Governments.
