IOM Guyana - International or National Consultant Attorney-at-law

The International Organization for Migration seeks International or National Consultant with the following profile:- 

  • An attorney-at-law with at least 10 years working  experience in legal issues plus knowledge and experience in legislative drafting principles and pra ctices within the common law system.
  • Knowledge of the human rights, migration and  counter-trafficking International Treaties and Conventions.
  • Expertise in human trafficking.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting assessment of legislations and policies. An advantage would be on drafting TIP Acts.
  • Prior experience in Guyana or from the Caribbean region is a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral English-Speaking skills


General Functions

To draft a Counter-trafficking TIP Act in Guyana.

  • Review of TIP act, laws and policies in Guyana.
  • Review of TIP act, laws and policies in Guyana.
  • Conduct stakeholders’ meetings in Guyana
  • Drafting of the revised Combating in Trafficking in Persons Act 2005.
  • Facilitate validation workshop with key stakeholders in Guyana to present a second draft of the TIP Act.
  • Preparation and submission of reports on kick-off meetings, its outcomes, results and recommendations.
  • Submissions of final draft of the Act.
